Flight of the Manchester Worker Bee

Waaaaah, that was quite the adrenaline rush!

I recently got hooked on game jams, and this one I must say was the hardest one. For the love of God I could not tell you why, but I had sleeping problems during the few days this game jam was going on. So I was lower energy than usual and was making more tiny mistakes than usual. That coupled with the fact that I had to also work a day job during this period ended up with me being quite exhausted by the time I am writing this.

The first two nights I was rolling in the bed like a mad man, but the final night I just decided to embrace the insomnia and work on the game, which helped a LOT.

If not for that night graphics-making session, this game would probably just be rectangles, squares, and circles of various sizes and colors.

I am happy that I am getting better at visuals (at least me and my wife think so :<), but I swear there will be a day where sound effects and music that I make won't sound like a mess. I swear!!!

I notice even when using 3rd party quality sounds, it is not easy at all to make the whole sound good.

Anyway! That's the dev part out of the way, let me introduce you to the game.

It's about an Enchanted Forest, a place where you, a student of the University of Manchester, got lost at when going back from lectures one day. You woke up in front of a bee ten times your size, and there are four paths that seems dangerous. The bee speaks in a mangled tongue, and to make it worse, it is giving you tasks! To escape the forest, you must obey the bee or beecome stuck in the forest forever!

The game is designed in a repeatable way where your speed is really slow at the beginning, and only by familiarizing yourself with the game can you reach shorter playthrough times.

Give it a whirl at https://nihilistas.itch.io/enchanted-forest-escape, and don't forget to leave a comment with your highscore! Or, lowtime, in this case. :)
